what type is your blog?
According to www.typealyzer.com RTTC’s Myers Briggs personality type is a somewhat puzzling ISTP, which in MB parlance means:
- Introverted
- Sensing
- Thinking
- Perceiving
The Typealyzer emitted this paragraph after looking at RTTC for a couple seconds:
ISTP – The Mechanics
The independent and problem-solving type. They are especially attuned to the demands of the moment and are masters of responding to challenges that arise spontaneously. They generally prefer to think things out for themselves and often avoid inter-personal conflicts.
The Mechanics enjoy working together with other independent and highly skilled people and often like seek fun and action both in their work and personal life. They enjoy adventure and risk such as in driving race cars or working as policemen and firefighters.
I’ve taken the MB personality tests several times during my working career. It always comes out:
- Introverted
- Intuitive
- Feeling
- Perceiving
According to Wikipedia:
- I - Introversion preferred to Extraversion: INFPs tend to be quiet and reserved, preferring to interact with a few close friends rather than a wide circle of acquaintances and expending energy in social situations (as opposed to Extraverts who tend to gain energy in social situations).
- N - iNtuition preferred to Sensing: INFPs tend to focus on the "big picture" rather than the details, and the future rather than the "here and now".
- F - Feeling preferred to Thinking: INFPs tend to rely on a personal, internal sense of right and wrong rather than external, objective criteria. They tend to make decisions based on feelings and social considerations rather than logic.
- P - Perceiving preferred to Judging: INFPs tend to withhold judgment and delay important decisions, preferring to "keep their options open" should circumstances change.[9]
So – where does this ISTP profile come from? Could it just be that RTTC is the manifestation of the ISTP side of me?
OR –
Could it just be beta software.
What type is your blog?
I say it's the Tarot Card effect - intriguing symbols plus universal tendencies that are true for at least some of the population some of the time.

ESFP -- the performer: "The entertaining and friendly type. They are especially attuned to pleasure and beauty and like to fill their surroundings with soft fabrics, bright colors and sweet smells. They live in the present moment and don´t like to plan ahead - they are always in risk of exhausting themselves..."
I think I'll just chalk this up to writing technique. Yes, I'm friendly, but not entertaining in real life. I never live in the present moment, I plan ahead for just about everything. Go English degree!

I'm a bit suspicious of this testing. I checked various blogging and social networking sites on which I've posted things and find my scores are all over the place.
Regular blog-style sites:
self-hosted, TextPattern blog -- INFP the idealists
[essentially a prayer blog; perhaps ok]
posterous blog -- ESFP - The Performers
tumblr -- ESTP - The Doers
[all recent tumblr is the same as posterous]
xanga blog -- ESFP - The Performers
[older things from when my son was in Japan, plus all recent things on posterous]
self-hosted WordPress -- ESTP - The Doers
[only two test posts to prove I could set up a WP installation on my server, but the kind of blather I often produce rather than, merely "test post"]
Social-networking microblogs:
twitter -- ISTP - The Mechanics
plurk -- ENTP - The Visionaries
kwippy -- ESTJ - The Guardians
identi.ca -- ESTP - The Doers
Most posting to the microblogs is via ping.fm, hence the posts are essentially the same. But we get four different analyses. How's that?
When I took the Meyer's Briggs test in my Information Systems class two years ago, I came up ISTP or INTP, neither of which shows up above, except on twitter, the posts on which mostly seem to be about what's for dinner, responses to friend's posts, or some technical nerdiness. But, as I said, the virtually all of plurk, kwippy, and identi.ca posts show up on twitter. Twitter does get a few extra posts the others don't, occasional replies. There's no reason that I can see for the three non-twitter microblogs to differ.

Hi Everyone -
@Larry - that is odd about the microblog differences. There were other folks that tried it and got funny analysis returned to them as well.. One of the things I thought about was how deep the Typealizer code really went when reading a website.
@Christine - I find your writings (esp about wacky wedding planning) both friendly and entertaining (in the sense that they're engaging interesting stories), so I think Typealizer may have gotten one right there.
@Mary - I think that you've come up with the best explanation to date about how the Typealizer engine works!!
